The main studies are based on a theory with a neoclassical approach that focuses on identifying food consumption and its modification over time, considering household resources, per capita income and family budgets (impact of income , amount of money allocated to the
food and in families ’strategies for accessing food).

From a gender perspective, it is proposed that gender relations go through the analysis of the food economy, since in food the roles assigned socially and culturally to men and women are brought into play.

Inequality of opportunity persists in the public and domestic spheres. Food-nutritional, health and environmental care must be considered. One of the biggest challenges is how to develop actions between men and women that aim for social equity in an economy that is sometimes subsistence.

The analysis of the family economy with a gender perspective is to see the family as the elementary unit of economic production and consumption, of reproduction of human capital and at the same time as the space where people make decisions, considering different limitations of knowledge. and resources to implement their preferences.

From this approach the administration of the family economy continues to be maintained by women, especially when we talk about food at home. She has been responsible for providing nutritious and low-cost food, such as grocery shopping, preparing and organizing menus, and so on.

Healthy and nutritious eating does not mean eating expensive. You can think about the variety of foods, choose them, their use under the criterion of achieving better performance, so you will get savings that can be significant in the cost of the food basket, without sacrificing, but improving the family nutrition.

If time is available or if purchases are shared between different family members, you can buy food in different places, not always in the same business, looking for and choosing the one that has the best price or a good offer, considering the quality. of nutritional value.

In healthy eating there are five important elements to consider:

1. Quantity: it is necessary to cover all the caloric needs of the organism.

2. Quality: provide with nutrients such as carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals.

3. Harmony: a ratio of proportionality between the different nutrients, Carbohydrates: 50 to 60%. Proteins: 12 to 15% Lipids / fats: 30 Hour to 35% Vitamins and minerals.

4. Adequacy: adjustment to the biological, physiological time (newborn, school, pregnant woman, old adult), to the tastes and habits of the people, to their socioeconomic situation and / or the diseases that the individual may present.

5. Maintain good hydration: It is a basic pillar of healthy eating, it is suggested to drink between 1.8 and 2.8 liters of water a day.
