The additional spectrum will provide much more airspace beyond existing Wi-Fi at 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, resulting in increased bandwidth and less interference for devices that support Wi-Fi 6E.

“The 6 GHz band will be perhaps the most damaging benefit for Wi-Fi users in the last 20 years,” said Vijay Nagarajan, an executive at chip maker Broadcom, in January. “This spectrum band, combined with Wi-Fi, will drive new consumer experiences in smartphones, AR / VR devices and laptops that we haven’t even invented.”

Analysts also indicated that audio chip maker Cirrus Logic will supply a new power conversion chip for at least some iPhone 13 models, though it’s unclear whether this move would have any obvious benefit to the consumer.

As for the iPhone SE, analysts believe that Apple has no plans to update the device in the foreseeable future. Analysts said that although they had heard of a potential larger-screen iPhone SE, which was rumored to feature a 5.5-inch or 6.1-inch screen, the device was not mentioned in any of the their discussions with Apple vendors.
