Comstock told Andrea Mitchell of MSNBC that “he dared[s] any Republican “to describe President Trump’s comments before the riots as” totally adequate, “referring to his defense of Tuesday’s statements earlier Tuesday, his first public comments since he was banned from Twitter last week.

“I think the president should resign, but unlike Nixon he can’t even get to that level of doing that,” he added. “I would certainly like the 25th Amendment to be used, if that could be, but the dismissal seems to be what it should be.”

“I still don’t think the president has any thanks [the fact that] every minute he’s there, we’re in danger, ”he said, arguing that Trump remains a threat in the way he speaks to his supporters, the people who came and revolted and looted the Capitol, and he told them “you are special people, he has not denounced them yet”.

Mitchell asked why current and former Republicans were no longer pressuring Vice President Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment.

Comstock said he had discussed the matter with people in contact with Pence and his staff, saying they “seem to think it would take too long, although they keep it for their own concerns.”

Comstock’s comments came on the same day that three House Republicans announced they would vote for Trump on Wednesday, including the rep.
