This week is important for the pursuit of high-end booty in Destiny 2. We saw the release of Grandmaster Nightfalls and the surprise revival of Trials of Osiris with the massive and powerful fruit of the hand cannon thus at 3 wins / reward of failure.
But I have to say that in the initial offer of the Ordeal / Grand Master loot here, if that means it’s something to live up to the tests, but on the PvE side, I don’t see it.
For Ordeals we have:
Shadow Price – An assault rifle with an archetype in a terrible place.
The Squadron – A machine gun that is not significantly different from most others and that MGs are not exactly what you devote to your meager part most of the time in PvE for obvious reasons.
The Palindrome – Perhaps the most sought after of the group, but an archetype inferior to the era of the 120.
But the evidence? The test loot is out of control these days. Desperate Messenger. Double-hammered hammer. Astral as more or less the only viable primary PvP shotgun without delay. A sword with a chain reaction. A fusion rifle with a completely unique loading advantage. A rocket launcher with many options to shoot God. A sniper who still has Vorpal. The list goes on and on.

Test weapons have Bottomless Grief, a new advantage that is the PvE equivalent of Celerity. And because speed is rubbish, so is it. Beyond that, there’s little to make the GM booty feel powerful or unique, even with the expert versions. The new modification of Big Ones is a good start, but it is best used with … Expert testing equipment, most of the time.
Maybe this is just the beginning. The loot of tests did not start like anything all I guess it’s so special, since Astral is the only thing that worried him for a while. But I hope they learn from that for the release of the GM adept booty, and it doesn’t seem to be that way.
Maybe that will change over time, but at this point I certainly don’t see the point in specifically sliding GMs through this loot. And at the lower levels, which are more cultivable, I can even get “god” drops, such as Feeding Frenzy / One for All Shadow Price, and I still have it … bad, given where this is located weapon type No unique perks with the only new one, Bottomless Grief, which is something you actively want avoid.
If the test loot can evolve, I think the Ordeal / Grand Master loot too. But right now I think the scales tip in favor of testing, which is why you see PvE players jumping off cliffs by a hand cannon instead of running Nightfalls this week. I hope this changes in the coming seasons and this booty is coveted as much as the test booty.
