JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The COVID-19 vaccination site with federal support at Gateway Mall closed on Sunday at 12:30 for the rest of the day due to weather conditions.
“Due to weather conditions: lightning, rain, flooding around the facility and the safety factor of not being in a hardened structure, it has been decided that the Gateway Mall vaccination site will close the rest of the day “officials said.
For anyone who has an appointment scheduled for Sunday, there is no need to reschedule it; come anytime from 7am to 7pm another day or visit one of the satellite sites.
Operations at the Gateway Mall site will resume at 7 a.m. Monday.
All federally-supported vaccination sites in the Jacksonville area delayed opening until 10 a.m. Sunday, including downtown Gateway Mall on Norwood Avenue and satellite sites at the Oceanway Community Center on Sago Avenue West. and at the Carver Recreation Center on 5th Avenue South in Jacksonville Beach.

The Gateway Mall site offers the unique Johnson & Johnson vaccine. The satellite sites and the Gateway Mall site provide second doses of the Pfizer vaccine for those who received the first doses at these sites before April 5th.
Although the Gateway Mall site closed soon, satellite sites will remain open Sunday to provide second doses of the Pfizer vaccine.

In addition, the city of Jacksonville announced shortly after 5 a.m. Sunday that two COVID-19 vaccination sites scheduled for the day at the main library and the Brown Eastside library would close due to the weather.
The large vaccination site at Regency Square Mall, which offers the Pfizer vaccine, will maintain its normal schedule from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Legends Center and Edward Waters College venues were also expected to open on Sunday.

Appointments scheduled at dozens of pharmacies in the area should not be affected by the weather.
