The Google Maps app for iOS was finally updated after four months

After completing the launch of app privacy tags for its App Store apps, Google has updated the Google Maps app for the first time in four months.

Google Maps feaure green

Apple in December began requiring all submissions and updates to new apps to include app privacy tags, detailing the data the app collects so consumers know what they are sharing.

Google didn’t start implementing app privacy tags until February, and Google apps went several months without updating. In fact, Gmail went so long without updating that it started alerting users that it was outdated, but no updates were available.

Google Maps was updated with app privacy tags in early April, and along with Google Photos, it was one of the last apps to get the data collection details.

Now that Google Maps meets the App Store rules, Google is able to update it again. Today’s version 5.65 update is smaller, as it offers bug fixes that improve the Google Maps app, but Google is now free to add additional features in the future.
