Google today announced new automation and web features that will come to Google Assistant for Android and iOS, with the most notable feature for Apple users being the ability to locate a lost iPhone using the digital assistant.
Android users have long been able to use the Google Assistant to turn on a sound on their smartphone if it gets lost. This same capability, like Apple’s own Find My system, comes to the “iPhone.” The feature will allow users who have a smart speaker enabled with the Google Assistant and the accompanying Google Home app for iOS to find a device out of place.
The alert is triggered when you ask “Hey Google, find my phone” via Google smart devices. After the trigger, the Google Home app will send a critical alert for iOS to the “iPhone.” Apple offers apps the ability to use critical alerts, which are special notifications that can transmit Do Not Disturb mode or Silent mode, to ensure they reach the user. Apps with critical alerts require special approval from Apple and appear to have been obtained by Google.
Additional features in the Google Assistant app include “Wizard Routines,” which Google says will make it easy to perform multiple actions at once with a single order automatically and a duplex update that makes ordering and delivery easier with restaurants. associated.
