Los Angeles – The Grammys, the most important music awards on a global scale, will celebrate their 63rd edition today with a very strange gala and without all the artists united in one venue because of the pandemic.
At 5 p.m. in Los Angeles, the city where the Grammys are traditionally held, the U.S. Recording Academy will begin its grand ceremony, which this year will feature Trevor Noah as presenter.
Bad Bunny, Taylor Swift, Cardi B, Dua Lipa, Harry Styles and Billie Eilish are some of the artists who will perform at the gala.
Alongside these stars will also feature sisters Haim, Black Pumas, BTS, Brandi Carlile, DaBaby, Doja Cat, Mickey Guyton, Brittany Howard, Miranda Lambert, Lil Baby, Chris Martin, John Mayer, Megan Thee Stallion, Marren Morris, Post Malone and Roddy Ricch.
It is unclear what these musical appearances will be like, as many of the guests will not be attending in person at the Staples Center in Los Angeles (USA), the usual venue for the big music festival for years.
In this edition, the Academy will pay tribute to the music venues and the venues of small concerts, greatly impacted by the pandemic.
Waiters, promoters and other employees will be in charge of awarding the prizes.
The idea of the organizers is a small, audience-free television event with live connections both outside and inside Los Angeles.
Beyoncé and Taylor Swift, possibly the two most important stars of world pop, will duel as favorites at the awards.
Beyoncé will run with nine nominations ahead of Taylor Swift’s six, the same nominations as Dua Lipa and Roddy Rich.
Bad Bunny, with two nominations, Ricky Martin and Camilo are some of the Hispanic artists nominated for the Latin Grammy categories.
