The group votes to put people 75 years and older, essential workers in the ranks of the COVID-19 vaccine

WASHINGTON – A committee of experts put people over 75 and essential workers such as firefighters, teachers and grocery workers in line to fire COVID-19 as a second vaccine began to be deployed Sunday in hospitals, a boost that was desperately needed as the nation worked to control the coronavirus pandemic.

The events came as the country tried to push for a vaccination program that only began last week and has so far given initial shots to some 556,000 Americans, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The first shipments of the second COVID-19 vaccine authorized in the US came out of a distribution center on Sunday, a boost that was desperately needed as the nation worked to control the coronavirus pandemic.

Public health experts say the traits – and others that are being prepared – are the only way to stop a virus that has spread wildly. Nationwide, more than 219,000 people a day test positive for the virus, which has killed more than 316,000 in the United States and nearly 1.7 million worldwide.

Slaoui also predicted that the United States will experience “a continuous increase,” with as many coronavirus cases as possible from the Christmas meetings.
