The Honduran boy who moved social media managed to get to the United States

TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras.- The Honduran boy who moved social media after giving a painful interview on Telemundo managed to enter with his father in the United States.

Anderson Hernandez went viral last month, when huge tears fell down his cheeks as he spoke to a media reporter.

“I’ve been enduring hunger on the road,” said the desperate eight-year-old, who has just crossed the Great river and that it had taken several weeks to travel the dangerous route from Honduras.

“How many days did you not eat, Anderson?” The reporter asked, to which he replied, “every day I come walking and enduring hunger,” while his father wrapped his arms around his little body.

Anderson’s parent explained that they only had each other, as the child’s mother died eight months ago, during the birth of her daughter, who also did not survive.

After trying to reach the United States, they were deported to Mexico, as is the case with many compatriots, where the authorities send them to wait for an asylum application.

Reinaldo Hernández and Anderson were in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico, where they temporarily settled with more than 3,000 people in conditions similar to theirs, until finally the opportunity to send a request to the authorities. migratory arrived and now they both smile at seeing part of their odyssey resolved.

“It was a long, long night, waiting for an answer,” Reinaldo said in a new interview with Telemundo.

On Tuesday, August 24, the two again crossed the border between Mexico and the United States, but this time legally with the permission of the authorities, ready to work for a better future in the American country.

“I feel happy to be here with my dad, and to have the papers in hand,” said the little one, who kept kissing and hugging his parent.

Anderson dreams of studying in the United States, as he lost two years of study due to difficult circumstances, and also plans to win medals and trophies for his good performance.
