The Houston area suburb, The Woodlands, declared it the No. 1 city to live in the U.S.

THE WOODLANDS, Texas (KTRK) – The Woodlands, the 28,000-acre community, planned by a master in northern Houston, has elevated Niche’s list of America’s best cities in the past two years. Now, for the first time, it ranks first.

Niche, an online platform that helps people choose schools and places to live, announced on March 15 that The Woodlands is at number 1 on the list of the best cities to live in America in 2021. The Woodlands ranked second last year and fourth in 2019.

Niche generates rankings through data from the U.S. Census Bureau, the FBI, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and examines millions of resident comments. Among the ranking factors that Niche considers are affordability, the housing market, neighborhood diversity, public schools, and ease of walking.
