The Indiana Hospital CEO under fire because a black doctor said he died of ‘intimidated’ COVID-19 staff

Indiana University Health CEO is on fire for publishing a statement stating that a black doctor who complained of receiving inappropriate COVID-19 treatment before his death “may have [had] intimidated ”his nursing team. Dr. Susan Moore posted a video on Facebook stating that her white doctor made her “feel like she was a drug addict” to ask for more narcotics to deal with her pain. Moore later wrote on Facebook that the hospital provided him with adequate care and that he was discharged, before succumbing to the virus weeks later in an independent hospital. “I don’t think we have failed in the technical aspects of Dr. Moore’s care delivery,” wrote Indiana University Director General of Health Dennis Murphy. “I’m concerned, though, that we may not have shown the level of compassion and respect for why we strive to understand what matters most to patients.”
