The inmates break the windows and set fire to the prison of Sant Lluís

Dozens of inmates at St. Louis revolted Sunday night, smashing windows and setting fire to the facility, according to reports.

About 60 riot police officers wreaked havoc on the Justice Center on the second and third floors of the facility as of 8:45 p.m., police told KTVI.

Several inmates had signs outside the windows, according to images posted on Facebook by Real Stl News, which said “Free Ace” and “Free LJ.”

No one escaped during the chaos, although inmates dropped a makeshift rope from the third floor to a landing on the second floor, according to social media images.

At around 10.20pm, police officers took the prisoners out of the windows, according to KSDK. Shortly afterwards, firefighters extinguished the fire caused by the prisoners.

The inmates broke the windows and set fire to the back of the building, according to reports. The second flame was also suffocated by fire crews.

The chaos on Sunday night comes about two months after 117 Jai prisoners were released from their cells and caused similar destruction, causing fires and shattering windows, according to KSDK.
