A lot of smartphones have eSIM support to enable cell phone service without a conventional SIM card, but only for one line; you still need a card if you need two lines. From now on, this will not be a problem with iPhones. 9to5Mac we note that the iPhone 13 and 13 Pro include Apple’s first support for dual eSIMs. In theory, you can use multiline support without picking up a physical SIM.
There is still support for nano-SIM cards if you need them. Apple makes no mention of using the nano-SIM slot alongside the dual eSIMs. We’ve asked for feedback from Apple, but you shouldn’t expect three-line support at this stage.
The usual warnings apply. Some carriers are not fond of eSIMs and may limit your ability to switch carriers. Others may not support eSIM or even disable them in versions sold over the network. However, under the right circumstances, it could be ideal for international travel, business lines or prepaid services. You may never have to visit a carrier store or wait for a SIM card in the mail.
