The Justice Department is calling on Trump-era U.S. lawyers to resign

The Justice Department will call for the resignation of U.S. attorneys appointed by former President Donald Trump, according to a senior department official.

However, the federal prosecutor has been asked to oversee the tax investigation involving Hunter Biden.

U.S. Attorney John Durham, who was named special counsel to investigate the origins of the Trump-Russia probe, will also remain in his place.

Durham is expected to resign from his other position as U.S. attorney in Connecticut.

The process of transitioning U.S. lawyers is common among administrations.

It is expected that a few weeks will pass before the remaining few dozen Trump-era candidates leave and are replaced by President Joe Biden’s candidates.

Some U.S. lawyers elected by Trump have already abandoned their positions.
