One of the interesting side effects of the Street Fighter 5 Spring Update event last week was that it got the fighting game community talking about the latest DLC character planned for the title, although it seemed to appear more than anyone.
After watching the broadcast, some fans were immediately convinced that the fifth fighter of season 5 would be none other than Crimson Viper, but unfortunately the arguments for this case seem to contain no water for multiple reasons.
The “smoking gun” for most of these Viper aspirants came from the Rose section of the presentation, which featured the fortune teller’s tarot card deck as his unique victory screen.
Although the first card thrown on the screen was Karin’s, the Street Fighter 4 rookie appeared in front of and in the middle of the second, which probably caused everyone to make a double take.
My guess is that these true believers assumed that all the characters that appeared in the game would appear in SF tarot designs because it might normally make logical sense, but that’s really not the case at all.
Instead, this card game is based on a real tarot card game published by Capcom in the Japanese special edition of Street Fighter’s 30th anniversary collection.
Both Karin’s and C. Viper’s designs were taken directly from these earlier designs, and there is even a new one shown right after with Rose and Menat in the abnormal number of 30 arcana, perhaps in reference. on its 30th anniversary.
Before the season 5 character was revealed last summer, some had even speculated that the rest of the tarot card members would make up the DLC list because there were five who weren’t on SF5: Rose, Gold, Elena, Rolento and C. Viper.
Viously, obviously Dan and Akira immediately exploded this theory out of the water in August, but the mystery of the number 45 character still remains.
This deconfirmation of tarot cards alone would not be enough to almost completely discredit the inclusion potential of C. Viper because it is one of the most sought after candidacies still left out, but that is not the only reason so we are sure it is I will not go into it.
The key detail is in the official roadmap given by Capcom during the first summer update last August.
In the fall of 2021, the “?” it is shown that the character has three costumes. But why is it important?
Well, if we take a look at the rest of the season list, Rose and Akira have five extra outfits, while Oro and Dan only have three.
Nor is it an exactly solid confirmation, but that points to the fact that the final fighter will also be a man, and thus disqualify Viper again.
For more than five years, Street Fighter fans have been waiting for the special agent to return in the latest version, as it was one of SF4’s most popular new releases.
Viper also became Marvel vs. Capcom 3, as did Juri, Seth, Rufus, and Abel, so the developers seemed to have a lot of confidence in the character before.
Technically, it has appeared in at least four character stories within SF5 and seems to be the one that appears most that still can’t be played, except maybe Azam or something.
So what do we know about the final member of Street Fighter 5? Almost nothing, apart from the fact that they are probably men, everyone knows that Capcom would jump to the possibility of selling a lot of Viper costumes as well.
The development and marketing teams have been very careful not to divulge too much information to even hint at their identity with the latest official blog posts for the spring update that refer to them as the mysterious / unknown character.
We probably won’t have to wait much longer to find out exactly who they are, though, as Capcom has virtually confirmed that a new updated summer show will be released in the coming months, where they seem to be mocking that the fifth fighter is likely to be will unmask alongside the new images of Oro and Akira.
Although it seems extremely small, there is still the possibility that Viper will continue to become Street Fighter 5, but it would certainly not put money into that bet.
