With the release of Metroid Dread fast approaching, can you believe we’re just seven weeks away? – Nintendo has released the latest special reports offering deep dives into the gaming tradition, mechanics and more, as well as a new trailer (which you can see above).
This time, we will learn more about Samus’ abilities and the weapons he will be able to use to fight his last deadly enemies. Fans of the series will learn about Samus’ attacks and missiles, but techniques such as the Melee Counter, first introduced in Metroid: Samus Returns on 3DS, have been modified for this new adventure.
Check it out:
ARM CANNON
Samus’ right arm is fully integrated with his powerful and iconic Arm Cannon, which can fire two types of weapons: rapid-fire beam attacks and powerful missiles. Because Arm Cannon is so deeply integrated, Samus can alternate between weapon classes at will.
In the game Metroid Dread, you can attack from almost any angle while running, jumping or grabbing certain walls and ledges.
Beam Attacks
Lightning attack is Samus’ offensive ability. Acquiring upgrades can modify its power and properties, such as increasing attack spread or adding other features.
One of these functional upgrades is the Grapple Beam, which gives it a rope-like quality that makes the armament cannon able to connect to specific points. Once connected, Samus can tow objects or turn to other unreachable parts of the environment.
Missiles
Unlike the endless wave of lightning at your disposal, Samus has a capacity limit for this compact yet powerful heavy weapon. It can also be improved with capacity improvements. Samus can increase its missile capacity, being able to hold more, acquiring missile tanks and missile tanks spread all over the world. Search diligently!
ACTIONS AND SKILLS
Melee counter
This action creates the opportunity for Samus to stun an enemy by hitting him well while he is about to attack. If successful, the stunned enemy is open to receiving a strong follow-up attack. Samus can also Dash Counter while running.
Morph Ball
The player can leave Samus in the shape of a Morph Ball by tilting the left control bar down while crouched (indeed, in the same way it has always been done in the 2D Metroid series) and now just by pressing the ZL button. Samus will also automatically take on the Morph Ball shape when jumping into an elevated tunnel.
Salts
Samus ’incomparable physical abilities elevate his jumping actions to another level. One of these actions is the jump to the wall, where you can jump and throw yourself against a wall to climb even higher.
Your jumping abilities can also be improved through skill upgrades. For example, the new Spin Boost ability allows Samus to jump a second time while spinning through the air.
Aeion skillsSamus can harness a special mystical energy called Aeion to temporarily use certain abilities.
One of these skills is Phantom Cloak, which blankets her with optical camouflage to make her invisible. If you use it quietly, it will slowly deplete your Aeion Energy reserve; it can also move camouflaged, but costs a larger amount of Aeion energy. When not in use, your reservation is automatically regenerated over time.
POWER SUIT
The Power Suit worn by Samus is based on Chozo technology and was created specifically for it.
Incorporating skill upgrades can extend the functionality of Power Suit performance and Arm cannon features.
In addition to the Power Suit’s built-in defenses, Samus can increase its energy and therefore its ability to withstand damage by acquiring two types of energy tank items. Standard energy tanks increase the energy of your suit by 100 each. It can also collect four parts of energy to rebuild the same functionality as a standard energy tank.
IMMUNITY TO PARASITE X
Metroids were created to be the natural enemy of parasite X.Upon receiving an emergency dose of the “Metroid vaccine,” created from a cell culture previously from the Metroid breed, Samus became the only living creature that parasite X cannot harm. .
Due to his immunity, Samus is only sent to the planet ZDR to investigate the possible presence of parasite X, a life form that is believed to have been eradicated.
