While the phone doesn’t have a proper release date yet, I’m sure so far we’ve learned a lot about the Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro. Today, another leak has revealed some more details about the Pixel 6 Pro, including some captivating details about its range of cameras.
As has long been known, the Pixel 6 Pro will be the phone you get when it comes to camera performance, as it comes with a third sensor which will not have any smaller Pixel 6. While Google has confirmed that the phone will finally offer a serious update after five years of the same old history, right now we have a clearer picture of what this setting will offer.
XDA reports based on a source who allegedly has the phone in hand that the camera set will be headed by a 50MP Samsung GN1 sensor, a detail we have already reported above. Beyond this main camera, however, a 12MP Sony IMX386 sensor would be used behind an ultra wide lens. This sensor is used in several smartphones sold overseas, but is rarely seen in the state. More interesting is the sensor used for the 4x telephoto lens, which is a Sony IMX586. This is the same 48MP sensor used in OnePlus 8T and other devices. Finally, the front camera would also see an upgrade to a 12MP Sony IMX663 sensor from the previous 8MP Pixel triggers.
Completing the camera, this source also says that the phone offers an option of “baby mode” and “blur motion”. It is not clear exactly what they will do, but it seems that they will take advantage of the camera / AI components of the new Tensor chip.
Beyond the specifications of the camera, this latest report also details some other features and functions of the Pixel 6 Pro. This includes the screen, which will be a 1440p panel on the Pixel 6 Pro and, according to this source, will support 120Hz while at full resolution. It is also mentioned that the always active screen will support a variable refresh rate between 10Hz and 30Hz, but it is not mentioned whether the screen will always support this option.
The source also clarified that the Pixel 6 Pro does not support Active Edge, the feature of previous Pixel phones that allowed users to “squeeze” the device to activate the Wizard. The potential return of this feature was erroneously reported after a detailed leak. The Pixel 5’s shared battery, however, will return.
UWB is also directly mentioned again, a feature that Google has confirmed several times at this time. It is said that a digital car key application will be pre-loaded on the phone with Qorvo UWB hardware, a detail of which we reported quite some time ago.
Completing the emptying of information, the report mentions a 5,000 mAh battery, 128 GB of storage in at least one model, more details on the technical specifications of the processor, Wi-Fi 6E, a fingerprint sensor under screen of Goodix and a Cirrus Logic audio amplifier. Apparently, the phone is also in version 5.10 of the Linux kernel, which seems to support the rumor of five years of software support, as this kernel will be compatible until 2026.
