The Legend of Zelda brand has excited Nintendo Switch fans

This year marks the 35th anniversary of the The Legend of Zelda franchise, and it seems likely that Nintendo Switch fans will have plenty of ways to celebrate the event. One of these could be in the form of a Zelda birthday collection with old games from the franchise. There have been rumors about this collection and it is possible that a new brand will give them some credibility. Twitter user @KeliosFR (via. @ Okami13_) notes that Nintendo has been approved for a new trademark in Australia for “Ghost hourglass“Zelda fans would know this as the sequel to the Nintendo DS The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker.

Last year marked the 35th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros. Nintendo celebrated the occasion with several different offerings, mostly Super Mario 3D All-Stars, an excellent compilation of three classic Mario games. No wonder Zelda received a similar offer for her own birthday. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD is one of the few Wii U games that has not yet been ported to Nintendo Switch, so a collection that included this game and Ghost hourglass (and maybe Ocarina of time) would make a lot of sense!

Of course, it is equally plausible that Nintendo may release a remake of the game, rather than a port. The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Sand clock launched in 2007, and could benefit from a new coat of paint. Developer Grezzo has a long history of working on the Zelda franchise, including a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening which was released on Switch in 2019. Since then, the developer has been very quiet. Maybe Zelda fans can expect to see another remake released this year.

Until Nintendo makes an official announcement, Zelda fans will just have to wait patiently. The franchise means a lot to the company, so fans can be sure there’s something important in the process. A company ad can’t be too far away!
