Not only did he catch the day, but he took it all of them.

An employee of the hospital in Italy has been accused of pocketing about $ 648,000 in salary for 15 years despite never showing up for work, authorities said.

Salvatore Scumace, 66, christened the “king of the absent,” now faces charges of abuse of office, forgery and extortion by the insured plan, the Italian news agency reported on Tuesday. Ansa.

Salvatore Scumace was able to earn about $ 648,000 despite not showing up for his job as a security officer at a hospital.

Prosecutors said Scumace stopped appearing at his concert as a security guard at Catanzaro’s Pugliese-Ciaccio Hospital after he was put on the books in 2005.

The chronic presence allegedly threatened the hospital director to prevent her from reporting her absences, The Guardian reported.

After his retirement, Scumace continued to receive his salaries, as his absenteeism went unnoticed by both the new director and the human resources department, according to the report.

Six executives or hospital staff are also being investigated on suspicion of having played a role that has allowed Scumace to skip work.
