A Briton faces six years in prison for breaching Singapore’s quarantine rules to meet his pledge at the same hotel, according to a report.
Nigel Skea, 52, left his room at the five-star Ritz-Carlton hotel three times in September to meet with his now wife, Agatha Maghesh Eyamala, 39, in another room. as reported by Sky News.
On one occasion, a maskless Skea climbed into an emergency stairwell to enter a room Eyamala had booked at the hotel in downtown Marina Bay, the outlet reported.
He then spent nine hours with Eyamala, who was not in quarantine, Sky reported.
Most travelers are required to stay in an assigned hotel room or home to be quarantined for 14 days after arriving in Singapore, the point of sale reported.
Skea pleaded guilty Monday to breaking the country’s quarantine coronavirus, while Eyamala pleaded guilty to assisting his partner in the hotel appointment.
The couple will be sentenced on February 26 to a court, where each will face up to six years in prison and a fine of Singapore $ 10,000 ($ 7,558), the media reported.
