The masks may have to continue to be worn for a long time, according to U.S. chief infectious disease expert Anthony Fauci.
In an interview he gave today, Sunday, on CNN, Dr. Fauci, who heads the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, predicted that although it could return to normal in certain activities, masks will still be needed in 2022 to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
“This may be the case,” Fauci said, wondering if the use of mouthpieces will continue to be needed next year.
In the United States, there is a decrease in virus infections, but alertness remains for new virus variants.
