The Vikings got Kirk Cousins as a free agent signing in 2018, but he hasn’t been perfect since.
Minnesota has seen Cousins have stellar games, but it has also eliminated the team from key games this season, such as those against the Colts and Falcons. With Sean Mannion, Nate Stanley and Jake Browning behind Cousins, there doesn’t seem to be much hope that there will be another top-tier quarterback on the roster or training squad right now.
CBS Sports isn’t completely out of the Vikings ’quarterback situation, but they also don’t believe the team is necessarily locked in that position. The outlet included Minnesota in the slightly intriguing category. Here is what he said about the situation of the Viking quarterback, along with the Rams:
The contracts the Rams and Vikings have with their quarterbacks – Jared Goff and Kirk Cousins - most likely rule out any real move if either team was looking at a potential upgrade. But these teams didn’t quite fit into the top category.
The Vikings will likely stay with Cousins until at least 2022 and probably 2023, due to his contract. It remains to be seen if Minnesota finds a possible low-cost replacement.
