Originally from Mexico City, Ramón Antonio Esteban Gómez de Valdés y Castell was born on September 2, 1923. He grew up in a humble and numerous family that later moved to Ciudad Juárez when he was two years old.

His first debut as an actor was in 1949 with a small role in the film “Calabacitas tendres” (1949) in which he participated alongside his brother Germán Valdés, who introduced him to the artistic environment.

It obtained bins like extra and some secondary rolls, besides participating in films during the Golden age of Mexican cinema.

It was in 1968 when he began to exploit his talent in the hands of Roberto Gómez Bolaños, projects such as “The supergeniuses of the square table” (1968), “Chespirito” (1970) and “El Chapulín Colorado” (1973). ) and “El Chavo de l’8” (1971) where Valdés would gain international fame for his portrayal of the character Don Ramon.

After leaving the “Chavo de l’8” in 1979, Ramón Valdés also participated alongside Carlos Villagrán in the Venezuelan program Federrico and in 1987 in “Ah qué Kiko!”.

Valdés had a strong addiction to tobacco which ended up causing him serious health problems that ended up taking his life due to the stomach cancer he suffered. He finally left at the age of 64 after an incessant struggle against this suffering.
