The man arrested yesterday, Wednesday, who was listed as the number one most wanted in the Caguas region, confessed to having killed three 19-year-olds last Monday, in the vicinity of the Moisty Skate Park, in this municipality, has reported to The New Day Inspector Ricardo De Jesús, director of the Caguas Criminal Investigation Corps (CIC).
The suspect, 47-year-old William David Marcano, who was wanted for a double murder in 2018 and violations of the Weapons Act, allegedly also confessed to being the perpetrator of this crime that occurred in the Bunker urbanization in Caguas . He also said that he was the perpetrator of a murder that took place in June 2020, in the Morales neighborhood of this municipality.
“The person who was arrested yesterday confessed to the facts that he was the one who killed the three young men. A confrontation round was held where one of the witnesses identified him as the person who committed the acts. The prosecution is already preparing the entire case for tomorrow morning to file the corresponding charges, “said De Jesus, who added that Marcano confessed to the facts at the time of his arrest.
De Jesus has noted that, in total, he confessed to being the perpetrator of six murders, including the three young men.
“Already we are culminating the investigation. The case was clarified, we are waiting for the culmination of the file that is practically finished. Some details would be missing for hours in the morning to be rooted,” he added.
The victims of the murder triple were identified as Alexis Y. Vélez Torres, Nilson D. Pérez Altagracia and Frankie J. Coss Báez, Residents of Caguas. At an early stage of the investigation, Sergeant David Correa reported that the man lived on the premises of the old water park and that upon seeing five young people passing through the area “without saying a word” he kill three of them.
It was ruled out at the time that the crime was related to drugs or some kind of smuggling. The other two youths at the scene, aged between 19 and 20, were unharmed during the incident.
On the other hand, De Jesús indicated that in relation to the double murder of 2018, the case had already been settled, so it would now move to the preview stage. For this case, against Marcano weighed a bail of $ 2.2 million.
As for the murder in June 2020, he said that “some details that the prosecutor has to get are missing, such as forensic evidence and reports to be filed later, but it is also going to be filed and is clarified.”
