A Chicago mother says a judge has banned her from seeing her 11-year-old son because she is not vaccinated against COVID-19.
“I miss my son more than anything. It has been very difficult. I haven’t seen him since August 10, ”Rebecca Firlit told FOX 32 News in Chicago.
The unusual move came during a court hearing on child support issues before Cook County Judge James Shapiro, according to the report.
Firlit shares custody of her son with her ex-husband.
The judge, unforeseen, asked about Firlit’s vaccination status. He then withdrew his parenting time when he said he refused to receive the shot.
She says she has reacted badly to vaccines in the past and appeals the judge’s ruling, according to the station.
“It had nothing to do with what we were talking about. He would put his opinions on me and take my son out, ”he told the station.
A judge’s spokesman declined to comment on the station.
