A new report on the Nintendo Switch Pro makes Nintendo fans worried about Nintendo’s intentions for the console and what its release could mean for those in the standard Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite. Depending on the report you read, Nintendo will release the Nintendo Switch Pro or Super Nintendo Switch, as sometimes referred to, sometime later this year or early next year. So far, Nintendo has not validated any of these reports with any confirmation or even a clue about a new more powerful model of the best-selling console.
That said, it looks like the console may be more of a technical leap than a revision. According to the latest report of a credible variety, the console will have a larger screen and will be able to play 4K. If this sounds like a pretty sizable bulge, it’s because it is, but it can cost for those who don’t upgrade.
According to Nintendo’s prominent insider, “NateDrake,” which was one of the first to convey the word of the updated console and its features, there will be games made for Nintendo Switch Pro that won’t be available in Basic Switch and Switch Lite.
“There will be some select exclusives, especially from third-party partners,” the informant said. “There may not be a large number, but I know at least one.”
Unfortunately, that’s all the inside discloses. There are no further details or specifics, and while they suggest it won’t be a huge concern for Switch players, here’s enough to worry about losing games. While the number may be limited to the release, it is expected to grow. And of course, to some extent, this is inevitable, but the Switch is only four years old and the Switch Lite is even newer. In other words, it would be a pretty unforgivable change to wait for Switch owners to upgrade to play all the games that come into the ecosystem.
That said, for now, all of this is unofficial variety information. While the source in question has proven reliable in the past, it does not mean that any of this should be considered as integrated official information.
At the time of publication, Nintendo has not commented on this report and the speculation it has created in any case. That is unlikely to change, but if it does, we will be sure to update the story accordingly.
