Pokémon Snap for Nintendo 64 is a game about rolling islands, quietly taking pictures of pocket monsters. The whole next sequel needed to please fans of the original is more than that with nicer graphics. I am pleased to report We Pokémon Snap is exactly that.
Recently, Nintendo held a pre-event where members of the press took a quick tour of the game and its features. We saw a Pokémon rep play on the game beach twice, once a day and once at night, in order to demonstrate how the selection of Pokémon changed based on the time of day. At the end of the race, Professor Mirror judges the photos taken, awarding them points and assigning them star values. Completionists will want to capture four-star images of each critter they encounter. This will require taking fruit out of your automated vehicle to convince them in unique postures. You can see all of this in action, from the tour to the trial to the photo editing, in the video below.
This is good. That’s what I, a big fan of the original Pokémon Snap, I expected. Better graphics, good music, maybe a glass of wine (the game does not include wine) and a quiet photo tour of the Lental region and its picturesque islands.
I wanted it, we are getting it. Hurray! Good preview, Nintendo. Kudos all involved. We now expect the April 30 release date to be released.
