The new PS Now games are for PS4 only, with no PS5 upgrade path

PS Now PlayStation Now PS5 PS4 Update 1

Sony is great PlayStation Now This week’s update is one of the best in a long time, as Marvel’s Avengers and Borderlands 3 are part of the line, showing the company’s commitment to the subscription service. However, it is also a demonstration of the manufacturer’s disorderly membership model, although both titles appear free upgrades from PS4 to PS5, you will only be able to play the latest version.

There was some confusion about it earlier in the week, so we decided to give it a try. With our subscription to PS Now on PS5, we were able to stream PS4 versions of each of the titles mentioned. You can also download the games to your hard drive, but yes not more download the latest versions; if you want to “upgrade” to the PS5 edition, you’ll have to pay for the game effectively.

PS Now, as it is right now, is a PS4 service – no PS5 games included. However, we feel that this again underscores the messy transition that Sony’s console is going through. With both Marvel’s Avengers and Borderlands 3 offering native versions of PS5 with free upgrades, many PS Now subscribers had rightly assumed they would also have access to next-generation ports. That is not the case.

It’s still a good upgrade to the subscription service, but you may remember that the platform owner needs to get back to the drawing board a bit. Despite efforts to improve the quality of PS Now (which, to be fair, have had some success), it still doesn’t look like the firm is taking the service seriously. Hopefully, by the end of the year the organization will have renewed everything, so misunderstandings like this cease to exist.
