The New York Jets (1-13) beat the Los Angeles Rams, but were no longer ranked first

The New York Jets won a football game on Sunday for the first time in 358 days, but perhaps they would have suffered a loss that will feel much more than that.

With a 23-20 run of the Los Angeles Rams, the Jets (1-13) resigned from their top spot for No. 1 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

The Jets and Jacksonville Jaguars have the same record, but the Jaguars own the tiebreaker because they have played the weakest schedule. The Jets could have fired at Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence, the alleged selection.

In any other season, a win against a quality team like the Rams (9-5) would have triggered the celebration among Jets fans. Not this time. The fan base has been bubbling over the possibility of selecting Lawrence, but the draft landscape has changed.

The Jets may have to turn their gaze to another quarterback in the draft or stay with current starter Sam Darnold, who spent 207 yards and a touchdown on his most efficient performance of the campaign. He did it against the NFL ranked defense.

With the win, the Jets got a streak of 13 franchise record losses.

The visiting Jets closed out as under-17 points against Los Angeles. He was tied with the second most annoying victory in the Super Bowl era; the only major one was the 1968 Pro Football Championship against Baltimore (+18).

It is the third consecutive season that he has definitely won a subaltern of 17 points or more. From 1978 to 2017, there had been only three disorders, according to ESPN Stats & Information.

As a result of Sunday’s decision, the Jets will not join the 2017 Cleveland Browns and the 2008 Detroit Lions as the only 0-16 teams in NFL history.

Unlike two weeks ago, when they gave a late lead to the Las Vegas Raiders, the Jets didn’t collapse in the cruel moment against the Rams. New York won a 20-3 lead and didn’t lose their balance when the score read 23-20 in the fourth quarter. It was a thrashing performance from the Jets defense, who played the fourth quarter without star defensive attack Quinnen Williams (head injury).
