You still like the Harry Potter franchise but absolutely can’t continue to support its terrible author? If so Magic: the encounterthe last card game, Strixhaven: School of Magi, it may be for you.
More than just a card game to demoralize your friends, Magic: the encounter it has its own story, with each new card game taking place in magical realms called airplanes. Recent aircraft have included the Viking theme Kaldheim, inspired by fairy tales Eldraine, and now with Strixhaven, publisher Wizards of the Coasts is preparing its popular card game at Hogwarts.
Stop me if you’ve ever heard of it. Strixhaven is a school for magicians founded by five powerful dragons, each with their own disciplines and personalities. They have divided their school into five different colleges, and each university is dedicated to the ideals of its founders. Magic published a short, nice block on each of the schools. Strixhaven sounds a lot like a real university with departments of math, science, history and literature, each with its own unique magical style.
I love Magic: the gathering, but I was always more attracted to the characters in the letters than the worlds they occupied. I identified with black characters like Kaya i safely and deeply respected characters like Ashiok despite the misery they always caused me your card it materialized at the hand of my opponent.

With Strixhaven, I am very excited to know more about the world. It looks very funny, with a strong contrast Magicusual stories of war or surviving in monster-infested environments. Strixhaven It seems like only kids learn and have fun, and that’s a good change of pace.Magic could use some gravity. It can not be Nicol Bolas tries to take over the worlds all the time, right?
Here is my brief summary of the schools.
Witherbloom is the school for bio nerds who like to get into living or dead things and who definitely have a collection of taxidermy pets. Quanrix is the school that has somehow managed to bore magic by adding math to it. Prismari is the school for dramatic children: at all hours of the day you can hear at least one person singing “Seasons of Love”. Lorehold is the history school and is completely populated by children who read at lunch, play and toilet. Finally, Silverquill is for literature nerds who think wearing black is a substitute for having personality.
Along with a standard card game, the wizards will throw prefabricated command decks for each of the schools. Personally I choose Lorehold, as I am a history nerd who enjoys playing on white mana decks and … I was one of those kids who read at lunch, at play and in the bathroom.
Strixhaven: School of Magi will not go out for another couple of months, but you can expect to see more cards and hopefully there will be more history as we get closer to the release date.
