Although a minor system update was reported on its way to the Switch last month, it appears that Nintendo has jumped straight to version 12.0.0.
If you were expecting things like folders, themes, and other interesting features, we’re sorry to say, but there’s none of that. Instead, this latest update fixes an issue related to the data backup feature.
Here is the full summary of the official patch notes, courtesy of the Nintendo website:
Ver. 12.0.0 (released on April 5, 2021)
We have fixed the issue with the function of saving data backup, in which case in exceptional cases the automatic interruption of the saved data is interrupted if a communication error occurs during the end of the data backup process.
To learn about the steps to check for the error or what to do if the error has already occurred, this information may be helpful.
As noted above, if this error has been a problem, you can consult this page for more information.
This update follows version 11.0.1, which was released in December last year and fixed several issues that occurred with version 11.0.0. Learn more about this in our previous post.
