The killings so far this year exceed those that occurred in 2020 on the same date, according to official police statistics.
As of Sunday, April 4, 167 homicides have been reported, seven more than those reported on the same date in 2020.
Five murders were recorded this weekend.
Angel Cruz Medina, 30, a resident of Juana Díaz, was shot dead on Friday in front of a pigsty in the Guayabal neighborhood.
Four homicides on Saturday
Edmill De Leon Garcia was shot dead at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday, on the premises of her job at Motel Yess in Carolina.
Another homicide was reported on Calle Morales, at stop 20, in Santurce. In this place the shot body of a man was found who not yet has been identified.
On the other hand, at around 11.11 pm on Saturday on the road 1 Kilometer 122.6 in Ponce, Josean Crespo Rodríguez, 31, was shot dead.
The fifth murder took place in the avenue the Door sector the Ways of the Borinquen district of Guayama. Ernesto Montañez Amil, 31, was shot dead at the scene.
