The number of new cases of COVID-19 in Utah falls to its lowest level in five months

Two more deaths bring the total to 1,738.

Utah reported 514 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, the lowest number in a single day since mid-September.

The state also suffered two more deaths, according to the Utah Department of Health. And the health department changed the way it reports the positivity rate of the coronavirus.

Vaccines reported in total / last day vaccinations • 3,087 / 417,024.

Number of Utahns who have received two doses • 103,806.

Cases reported last day • 514.

Deaths reported last day • Two.

Utah County reported the death of a 45- to 64-year-old woman, and Washington County reported the death of a 65- to 84-year-old man.

Hospitalizations reported last day • 308. This has gone down 21 from Sunday. Of those currently hospitalized, 112 is in intensive care units, eight fewer than on Sunday.

Tests reported last day • 3,653 people tried for the first time; 7,216 tests administered.

Percentage of positive tests • According to the original state method, the rate is 14.1%, lower than the seven-day average of 15.4%.

His new method counts all test results, including repeated tests from the same individual. This rate is 7.1%, roughly the same as the seven-day average of 7.3%.

Total so far • 355,122 cases; 1,738 dead; 13,889 hospitalizations; 2,079,688 people tested.
