The Utah Department of Health reported 778 new cases of coronavirus on Saturday.

With more than 200,000 fully vaccinated Utahns, the number of COVID-19 cases in the state continues to decline, with the weekly average below 800 for the first time since September.
Saturday was the first time the Utah Department of Health reported that the state has surpassed the 200,000 mark for people receiving two doses of the coronavirus vaccine. The positivity rate of the tests continues to decline, as does the number of people still in the hospital with COVID-19. It is now at 242. The last time such low hospitalizations were recorded was on 9 October.

Five of the dead lived in Salt Lake County. A woman over 85 was not hospitalized at the time of her death. The remaining four died at a hospital: two men and a woman between the ages of 65 and 84 and a man between the ages of 45 and 64.
Two women from Weber County died, both hospitalized. One woman was over 85, the other was between 65 and 84 years old. A Utah County woman, aged 45 to 64, died at a hospital.
Hospitalizations reported last day • 242. This is down 13th Friday. Of those currently hospitalized, 99 are in intensive care units, four fewer than on Friday.
Tests reported last day • 6,892 people were tested for the first time.
Percentage of positive tests • According to the original method of the state, the rate is 11.2%. This is below the seven-day average of 13.6%.
His new method counts all test results, including repeated tests from the same individual. Saturday’s rate now stands at 3.9%, below the seven-day average of 6.12%.
