America is embroiled in a somewhat bizarre controversy in football, but it happens
Blue Cross, Toluca, Puebla, Dorados, are some teams that like America have been in the middle of a controversy over alleged misalignments. In most cases the clubs have come out on top, but there have been sanctions.
In the case of America, the referee is judged, as published by the disciplinary committee, and the Eagles could come out with the three points they won in the game against the Atlas.
Blue Cross (Closing 2007)
Blue Cross lost a semifinal against Pachuca in the 2007 Closing, because they lined up Salvador Carmona, a player who was suspended for life for doping. Deci de Maria, then secretary general of the Mexican Football Federation, has informed the decision.
Blue Cross (Closing 2013)
Toluca claimed an improper alignment of the Blue Cross, due to the fact that La Màquina Celeste registered midfielder Alan Vidal, but Jesús Lara was on the bench. The Scarlets lost commitment on the court and complained administratively, but the disciplinary committee ruled there was “no element to determine misalignment.”
Golden (2017, Copa Mx)
Dorados de Sinaloa lost a match against Leones Negres, in the Copa Mx, because they showed up to play with only 11 players participating in the first team and not with 12, as stipulated in the competition regulations. Culiacán’s team was sanctioned with a defeat and a fine of one thousand UMAS.
America (Closing 2017)
Midfielder Gerson Torres was on the verge of making his debut for America, in a game against Pumes at the 2017 Clausura, but came out of the line-up at the last minute. All because the MX League informed Coapa that the Tico could not participate, because he was registered in the Under 20 and to do so the Eagles would incur an improper alignment. In 2020, Tico commented in an interview that he did not succeed with the Azulcremas, among other things, for this incident.
Women’s Blue Cross (Opening 2018)
In the 2018 Opening, the Women’s Blue Cross was nominated to register Mercedes Rodríguez as technical assistant, on the last day of the championship and despite having already had activity with another club. The disciplinary committee decided that the Celestial Machine lost the match and gave the victory to Pumes, a result with which they advanced to the final phase of the tournament.
Xolos (2019, Copa Mx)
In the quarterfinals of the MX Cup, Morelia claimed improper alignment of the Tijuana xolos, because the border team met the 180 minutes of minors with three players and not two. Despite this, the Mexican football authorities decided that all the xolos had not committed any fouls.
Women’s Blue Cross (Closing 2019)
The Women’s Blue Cross returned to improper lineup in 2019. Because it played with three players over the age of 25. In this tournament the rules stated that four players over the age of 25 could be called up, but only had two on the court. The Celestial Machine lost the match 3-0.
Pobla Femenil (Opening 2020)
Pobla Femenil was involved in a controversy over an alleged misalignment, because in a match against Monterrey, it lined up a 14-year-old goalkeeper, Harumi Cornejo. The MX Women’s League clarified that the Strip did not violate the regulations, although the camotero team lost the match on the court anyway.
