DETROIT – The owner of Mudgie’s Deli and Bar died unexpectedly at the age of 46 on Sunday (September 5).
Greg Mudge was an early investor in Corktown and went from being a restaurant employee, to owner, to leader. He opened Mudgie’s in 2008. He said he saw the potential of the community and wanted to be a part of it.
“He was. I’m a Corktown appliance. I felt like I was here forever,” said Andy Didorosi, a lifelong customer and friend of Mudge.

Mudge fell in love with the area while working as a waiter at McNally’s, which is what used to be the deli before it was Mudgie’s deli.
Announcements
Now, Mudgie’s is a staple in Corktown and this is due to the type of owner who was Mudge. Those who visited Mudgie’s Deli said they knew Mudge had a special way of connecting with people.
Local 4 spoke to Mudge’s mother, who said the family is still awaiting information about the cause of her death.
