The party atmosphere of the Chelsea Street Pub for New Year’s Eve returns to the new Heff’s

New Year’s Eve at Heff’s house.

Mmmm …

Remember, folks, that Heff is in Abilene and the whole area has two Fs in the name, and it’s a burger.

It is not a place for bunnies.

Recently, Ridgemont Drive’s Heff’s moved down the street to Abilene Mall, the former Chelsea Street Pub. In this big jump piece, the Flippin ‘Egg moved into the space left by Heff’s, which was formerly a Moe’s. And before that a Pizza Inn.

For New Year’s Eve, Heff will bring the party back to the mall. They will have a band, the popular local 360 dress, as well as spirits and beers.

And, yes, they do have burgers and fries.

The cost of coverage is $ 10.

For years, those celebrating the end of a year and the arrival of a new one made the pub a destination. There would be a good band, special drinks and toast at midnight.

Shawn Sheppard, the current daytime bar manager, said recently that he will not succeed that bewildered at Heff’s now operating in front of the Premiere Lux movie theater on the west side of the mall.

“We still want to put the family first,” he said. “We’re family first, second bar.”

The location of this Heff is equipped with a full bar. It has a capacity of less than 200, but there is a covered outdoor area with capacity for three dozen people.

“We feel that adding a full bar to our best burger reputation will be exciting,” franchise owner and founder Brenda Heffernan told Reporter-News recently. “I’m a fan of music.”

Throughout the hall, from the bar, is the stage that has been used by many local musicians and travelers over the years.

Chelsea opened shortly after the mall, which earlier this year celebrated its 40th anniversary.

Sheppard, a 2005 Cooper High School graduate, said he was a veteran of Chelsea, so he knows people had a great night when they might grab a movie, and then fell into the nightpot to take a hit at night.

“We’ll have a good time … very well,” Sheppard promised.

He said he would be there himself.

Since its recent opening, like all new sites, the operation has been smoothing out. Starting with a New Year’s Eve party would be both a challenge and a good publicity stunt.

“It’s still work in progress, but I think in 2021 we’ll start filming,” Sheppard said.

Filming will begin in the last hours of 2020. Sheppard occupies an important place. And the menu.

“I could also have a Heff burger,” he said about ending the year.

Or strips of chicken, chips and sweet tea, if a cold beer or Jack Daniel’s on the rocks doesn’t wet your whistle.

This Heff will continue to be a live music venue on Friday and Saturday nights, with karaoke on Sundays.
