The Department of Defense is preparing to release an informative report detailing the time of Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Texas) as a White House physician during the Obama and Trump administrations.
According to the Pentagon inspector general’s report, a copy of which was obtained in advance by CNN, Jackson made “sexual and derogatory” comments about a female companion, drinking alcohol while traveling to the presidency in rape of protocol and fell asleep with prescription medication that made co-workers worry about the care they could provide.
The report is the culmination of an investigation launched in 2018.
He alleges that Jackson had a burning temper, with interviewees telling the Pentagon watchdog that he would be heard “yelling, yelling, cursing or belittling subordinates.”
He was also seen drinking on presidential trips, including one in 2014 in Manila, during which he apparently became intoxicated and made inappropriate comments about a colleague working under him. Supposedly, similar comments were heard on other trips.
At least six interviewees told the inspector general that Jackson also took Ambien on long flights while on duty, leaving them worried that he would not be able to pay attention because of the drug’s ability to cause drowsiness and reduce alertness. .
Neither the Pentagon inspector general nor Jackson responded immediately to requests for comments from The Hill.
In a statement to CNN, Jackson criticized the report as an attempt by Democrats to tarnish it. Jackson retired from the Navy in 2019 and won his seat at Texas House last year.
“I am proud of the work environment I fostered under three different presidents on both sides; I take my professional responsibility seriously when it comes to prescription drug practices; and I reject any allegations that I consumed alcohol while I was service, ”Jackson said. .
“My entire professional life has been defined by duty and service. I have honorably served my country in the United States Navy, I have served patients who trusted me with their care, I have served three presidents in the White House, and I now serve the people of Texas’ District No. 13 in Congress. I do not and will never behave in a way that undermines the sincerity with which I take my oath to my country or to my constituents, ”he added.
