Salisbury DWP, b. – The first doses of the Govit-19 vaccine are scheduled to arrive in hospitals in Pennsylvania and New Jersey this week.
“There is a light at the end of the tunnel, but it will take time,” said Pennsylvania Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine.
Levine, Pennsylvania, on Thursday highlighted the COVID-19 vaccine distribution program.
“The Pfizer vaccine will first be given to hospitals such as Keesinger Health System and Ben State Health System, where they will inject health workers with the vaccine,” Levine said.
On Sunday morning, Pfizer sent the first 184,000 vials of the vaccine to all 50 states.
In our area, a doctor with the Lehi Valley Health Network said they expect to get its first ship ever from Tuesday.
In a statement on Sunday afternoon, the University of St. Luke’s Health Organization said it was ready to receive it “this week”.
“We expect the Pfizer vaccine to be delivered to nursing homes and other long-term care facilities through our pharmaceutical partners in CVS and Walkreens by the end of December and until January,” Levine said.
The Commonwealth has a three-phase distribution plan.
Health workers and long-term care facilities are in the first phase.
The first phase includes complex people who have not been vaccinated, those with limited access to care and those who contribute to key community activities such as farmers or teachers.
The general public is in the third phase.
“I think everyone will have access to one of these vaccines by April / May,” said New Jersey Governor Bill Murphy.
Murphy, who appeared on ABC’s “This Week” Sunday, said the first dose in Garden State will be delivered Tuesday at a hospital in Newark.
“The first batch is 76,000. Divide the majority into health workers, but a good slug to our long-term care residents and staff,” Murphy said.
Murphy says the government is still working on a plan to determine who gets vaccinated after key workers and high-risk groups have been vaccinated.
“1B is a very large group; each of them is a population worthy of going early,” Murphy said.
LVHN says it is in the process of planning staff to get vaccinated at its five hospitals.
