Stories of efforts are spreading in Texas due to the storm and power outages and it has been encouraging a see how people come together. It is important to recognize the essential workers who have fed people during the pandemic and local emergencies, as they receive very little credit for their work. A photo submitted by the reader of FOX News in San Antonio shows a couple of Domino employees exhausted after a rush that cleaned up the supply of a weekend in four hours.
“This Domino in San Antonio. Working during this crisis. They had food for a weekend and it disappeared in 4 hours “, wrote July DeLuna, the user who sent the photo a Chime In, the network’s public photo channel. “This team helped those who needed help. These are the essential workers who need recognition. They were the only pizzeria open. All the pizzerias were closed, but the dominoes were open to help those in need. “
When I’ve gone through all of our ingredients, I’ve had absurd service rushes in my catering, and while I’ve probably found it pretty baffling, I honestly can’t say I’ve worked on a change like this. Have the ingredients for an entire weekend just changed due to a massive emergency? This is serious shit in the trenches and the kind of commute even hardened restaurant employees come out, or at least when they sneak up to cry in private in the fridge. This also reminds us that many people with essential restaurant jobs often do not earn much more than the minimum wage. But they are the ones who make the food that appears on your doorstep just when you need it most.
