The Ever given, a container ship of more than 200,000 tons, is trapped in the Suez Canal, stopping traffic on one of the world’s key waterways.
Authorities worked all Wednesday to evacuate the freight carrier, but remain firmly trapped as boat traffic piles up on either side of the canal.

Taiwan-based operator Evergreen Marine Corp. said in a statement that Ever Give ran aground, driven by strong winds as it entered the Suez Canal from the Red Sea.
