New photos show the Central Park coyote relaxing in a wooded area of Manhattan’s green space.
Images taken Friday by Benjamin Shyman caught the hairy beast resting between naps near the lake, near the East 74th Street.
The coyote was previously seen in Central Park last week scouring the snow, and again the previous week.
The city’s parks department says a coyote “occasionally stays in Central Park.”
“New Yorkers should not be worried: we believe there is only one coyote; and they have no reason to believe the population has increased, at this time, ”the agency said.
In 2021, the department has so far received only one coyote sighting in Manhattan, but in 2020 it recorded 34 coyote sightings in the district.
Since 2016, the Parks Department has secured 126 reported coyote sightings across the city through the WildlifeNYC website, the agency said.
