The Pokemon Sword and Shield video reinvents the Switch title as the Nintendo Game Boy Game

Sword and Shield Pokémon Nintendo Switch shows how far the franchise has come in the days of Nintendo Switch Red and blue, but what would the latest game look like in a similar 8-bit style? A Japanese YouTuber named Hayate Keiunji imagined it with a new Pokémon video marrying the two generations of Pokémon. Keiunji’s video is a pretty amazing recreation of the Galar region and one that feels true to the past and present of the Pokemon franchise. What’s even more impressive is that the video lasts 19 minutes in total and even triggers a follow-up.

The video can be found embedded below.

Red and blue Pokémon was abrió with a battle between two Pokémon: Nidorino and Gengar a Red, and Gengar and Jigglypuff a Blue. Keiunji’s video replicates this opening using two Pokémon that debuted in Generation VIII: Corviknight and Duraludon. From here, the player is taken to a home screen where the protagonist Victor is next to a sprite from the headline Scorbunny. However, as the game begins, it is clear that this is not intended to reproduce the story of Sword i Shield. Instead, it’s an original tale in which Victor and Hop find themselves waking up in “low resolution,” with no idea what happened.

There is some really impressive attention to detail. Everything looks and sounds the way a classic Pokémon game should, but it’s the heart of it Sword and shield novel intact; there is even a sequence where Victor and Hop are chased by a Dynamax Wooloo. According to Keiunji, they came to this concept when they wanted to hear a Game Boy version of the city’s background music. Sword and shield. When they couldn’t locate him, they decided to do it and that was the result.

The video is another testament to the creativity of the Pokémon fan base. In the next 25 years Red and green Pokémon released in Japan, fans have been finding various ways to show their passion for Pokemon, and Keiunji made it clear with his video. It will be interesting to see where the plot goes when they release their second video.
