Two women have been arrested after police in Newark, New Jersey, set up an illegal bar in a warehouse full of 200 people amid the coronavirus pandemic, according to reports.
Denisse Tinizaray, 26, and Katherine Tinizaray, 28, both of Newark, were charged with maintaining an illegal liquor establishment, illegal possession of alcohol, and illegal sale of alcohol, according to reported NJ.com.
Vice Task Force detectives responded to a large match at Libella 6 court, where drinks were sold behind a makeshift bar around midnight on Sunday, Public Safety Chief Anthony Ambrose said, according to the Daily Voice .
More than 200 people were there, drinking alcohol and participating in illegal games, Ambrose said.
The two suspects were unable to produce paperwork proving they had a license to sell alcohol, he added.
This is the second illegal broken bar in New Jersey this month.
On Dec. 14, Trenton police arrested a resident after responding to neighbors’ complaints. According to NJ.com, they found 45 people inside the house, where the suspect was charging $ 5 for beer.
Police confiscated $ 942 in cash and 82 small bags of cocaine.
On December 7, Gov. Phil Murphy lowered the meeting limit to 25 people, below 150, in response to the growing number of COVID-19 cases in the state.
