The President of the EEC grants 48 hours to the commissioners to express on the request to recount the early vote

The President of the State Election Commission (EEC), Francisco Rosado Colomer, granted 48 hours to the five election commissioners to present in writing their position on a request made by the Citizen Victory Movement (MVC) to carry out a full recognition of all the advance vote and the favorable vote that there was for this electoral cycle due to various irregularities detected with this mechanism.

The issue was the subject of discussion at the meeting of the plenary of the EEC held yesterday.

“It was discussed briefly, but (the president) gave the commissioners a 48-hour deadline to raise their written points and then he would decide,” said MVC election commissioner Olvin Valentin.

The MVC’s request also includes that no official certifications be issued to candidates until the count is carried out.

Meanwhile, general scrutiny is still lagging behind. Yesterday, at the same meeting of the plenary of the EEC, it was agreed to leave officials free to work this Saturday to work on Sunday.

Also, Valentin said, it was agreed as a goal that each polling station work five briefcases daily. At the moment, some tables don’t even get the four briefcases.

“In this way, we could complete, at least, the regular floor (regular schools) in the next seven days,” Valentin said.

In parallel with these decisions, an investigation is pending, entrusted to the alternative electoral commissions and the managers of the Administrative Board of Vote Ausente and Voto Adelantado) regarding the discrepancies between the number of voters and the number of ballots cast.
