After EL TEMPS announced that businessman Samuel Viñas had been home for a year in prison, the reactions were not long in coming, and one of them was that of lawyer Edgardo Niebles, representative of the family of the victim Clarena Acosta.

It must be remembered that Vinyes was sentenced to 42 years in prison for the feminicide of Clarena, his wife, occurred on January 1, 2010, when the man fired his firearm three times, twice impacting the woman’s integrity.
He was imprisoned since then in the penitentiary El Bosc, in Barranquilla, but on February 7, 2020 he was given the measure of house arrest by the Fourth Court of Execution of Sentences, alleging incapacity of the prison for treating detainee’s health problems.
“Despite the vice president’s protests, despite having appealed to the Attorney General’s Office and having raised complaint about the judge’s atrabiliary measure, the judges appear to have fallen asleep and put the process in a legal limbo that has so far not been resolved, ”Niebles expressed.

A year after Samuel Vinyes was released from prison, he arrived at a luxurious apartment located on the ninth floor of the Turquesa Real building, in the Vila Country district, in the North-Historic Center of the Atlantic capital.

Defense attorney Edgardo Niebles argued that the defendant took advantage of his contacts and power to release him from prison, so he questioned the management of local and national justice in this case.
