The producer of three-body problems, Lin Qi, has died after the poisoning

Earlier this month, Lin Qi, founder of Chinese gaming giant Yoozoo and co-producer of The next Cixin Liu adaptation of Netflix The problem of the three bodies, was admitted to a hospital reporting symptoms that led doctors and police to have been deliberately poisoned by a colleague.

When police began an investigation into the suspect, Qi remained in hospital and it was unclear if he would recover, but now things have taken a much darker turn.

Seconds The Hollywood Reporter, Qi, 39, died yesterday after arriving for the first time at the hospital on December 17 with symptoms attributed to the consumption of poisoned tea. While Shanghai police initially did not provide much identifying information about the suspect other than his last name and the fact that they were working on Qi at Yoozoo, the South China Morning Post identified the suspect as Yao Xu, another film executive recently in charge of directing the three-body universe of Yoozoo, the unit of the company responsible for overseeing projects related to Three bodies intellectual property.

The suspect is currently being held by local authorities as the investigation into Qi poisoning and now death continues.
