Apple will host a virtual event tomorrow that is expected to revolve around the iPhone 13, Apple Watch Series 7 and third-generation AirPods. With the new Mac and iPad models rumored to be on the horizon, Apple is reportedly planning to hold at least one additional event before the end of the year, and the company’s annual Back to School promotion could provide a clue about when the next event might take place. take place.
Specifically, on September 15 last year, Apple extended its Back to School promotion until Monday, October 12 in the US. At the time, the extension seemed insignificant, but Apple later announced it would hold an event on Tuesday, Oct. 13, which became just a day after the promotion ended.
This year, the Back to School promotion will end on Monday, September 27 in the United States, but Apple is unlikely to hold two events in September. However, in Europe the promotion ends on Monday 11 October, which is perhaps more revealing. This could point to Apple’s next event being on Tuesday, October 12, assuming the event ends up being a day after the Back to School promotion ends for the second year in a row.
Of course, it is possible that the end of the Back to School promotion and the October Apple event that fell on consecutive days last year was simply a coincidence, so we’ll have to wait for an official announcement of ‘Apple.
It is also not entirely clear whether Apple will host two or three events this fall, which could affect the timing of an October event. Last year, Apple held its first event in November to introduce the first Mac M1s, however BloombergMark Gurman has suggested that Apple will hold two events this fall, with the latter focusing on Mac and iPad.
As an update, Apple has held an October event in three of the last five years:
- Thursday, October 27, 2016
- Tuesday, October 30, 2018
- Tuesday, October 13, 2020
