Roger Federer is the big drop for the Australian Open 2021. It was believed that knee recovery (after a double surgery in 2020) was the main reason but this Thursday 7th January another version appeared.
Andre Sa, director of relations with the Australian Open players, told Ace Band Sports of his talk with Federer: “The main reason was the quarantine. I spoke to him a month ago and he had two options. “I could come with the whole family and be quarantined. The problem is that Mirka and her children could not leave the room. They would have to stay in the room for 14 days. The exception is only for players.” he could go out, train and come back, but the family couldn’t. Mirka didn’t approve of the idea. “
“The second option would be for him to come alone. And that meant being at least five weeks away from family and kids. So he told me, ‘ “Dude, I have 39 years, four kids, and 20 Grand Slams. I am no longer in time to be away from my family for five weeks, ”Sa told Her Majesty, who has not played since the Australian Open 2020.
